Excellent reference for rehab therapist

So far I am just ggetting through the Fracture Classification section. The book is complete, clear and very in-depth for the purposes of a canine rehab therapist. I am very pleased with the book so far and cannot wait to continue with it.

Good, affordable and comprehensive

The book is extremely thorough, and contains five parts. The 1ST part, on general principles and diagnosis, is useful as a reference. Parts 2 and 3 are dedicated to the front and hindlimbs respectively and are organized following an "anatomic" layout. Part 4 lumps mandible, maxilla and abnormal bone growth while Part 5 covers musculoskeletal pathologies. The book is extremely lacking in topics of a neuro-orthopedic nature. The book is nicely illustrated and is easy to follow.
This book is comprehensive but limited on its description of specific surgical procedures. If you think that this book will make you an orthopedic surgeon, you are stupid. This book will serve as a refresher, will allow you to convey proper information to clients or to help you make a decision on when (and why) to refer to a more qualified/boarded specialist. If I had to pick ONE orthopedic reference for the general clinician, this would be the book I would recommend.

Orthopedic bible

I bought this book when I graduated and I started using it when I did a small animal surgery internship. You can find allmost every type of fracture and a choice of different surgical procedures to fix the fracture you are confronted with. This book describes not only fractures, but several pathological disorders of joints and bones of dogs and cats. I think I use it at least twice a week and this book has never let me down. I would recommend this to every veterinarian who is seriously taking up orthopedic surgery in small animals.

As though I was with him

What an epic journey undertaken by the author - one which, through his extraordinary writing and photographs, I joined every step of the way. It was a real eye-opener on the numerous diverse cultures the imaginary line runs through in the tropics. I particularly enjoyed the depth of research into politics and economics as well as the insight into the cultures and peoples Mr Reeve met along the way. I really felt for the people of Africa and Australia and the effects climate change was bestowing on their lands. I'm looking forward to reading Equator next.

Hal Fischer (born 1950) grew up in Highland Park, Illinois. He arrived in San Francisco in 1975 to pursue an MA in photography at San Francisco State. Through his work as an art reviewer and photographer, he soon became�embedded in the Bay Area's artistic and intellectual scene. He continues to live and work in San Francisco.

The Way We Were

One day in 1978 I was standing in Paperback Traffic on Castro Street and found this book. I turned to the guy standing next to me and said something like "Wow, this is fascinating." He said, "Thanks, I'm the author". I was skeptical, but I said "If you can prove it, I'll buy a copy." He took out his wallet and showed me his driver's license. I bought it. My partner's mother found it "interesting" but didn't want to lend it to her friends. It really is an accurate reflection of that moment in time, just before the epidemic changed everything.
