Grade 5 Up During World War II, a young German schoolgirl, Rose Blanche, follows the soldiers when they arrest a boy and discovers a concentration camp in the woods. Thereafter , she takes food to the prisoners until the town is liberated. Ironically, when she travels to the camp on that day she is shot by the soldiers. The oppression of Fascism is shown through the powerful and realistic paintings. In Innocenti's large, meticulously detailed paintings, Rose Blanche is the only brightly colored individual, and her small figure is set against the drab colors of overwhelming buildings and masses of soldiers and townspeople. No skyline is shown until a radiant spring bursts forth at the site of her death after the liberation. Although the story is simply told, it will require interpretation as details such as the concentration camp are not named nor explained, and the death of Rose Blanche is implied but not stated. This is a difficult book to classify, as the text is easy enough for a young child to read alone, and it has the appearance of a picture bookbut the content of the text and illustrations is full of emotional impact and subtlety. Takashima's A Child in Prison Camp (Tundra, 1971) and Maruki's Hiroshima No Pika (Lothrop, 1982) present the horrors of war, but from the perspective of a child who survives, whereas in Gallaz' book, the child does not survive and is not the recounter of the events. The Children We Remember (Kar-Ben Copies, 1983) by Abells is an easier book for children to understand. Rose Blanche tells of an individual's courage in the face of injustice, but this theme is more fully developed in Orlev's novel The Island on Bird Street (Houghton, 1984). Great dynamics!

Bram Moore-Llewellyn is the Stonefire Clan Leader. His male clan members get an opportunity to have a sacrifice who is human to bear them young. Unfortunately, not all of the woman survive their pregnancies. The inspectors make sure these human females are treated fairly and that the clan abides by the female's contract.

Bram is strong and dominant and his Dragon is very opinionated with him.

Evie Marshall has been a DDA inspectors for around 7 years. She has now been threatened by the Dragon Hunters. She has a plan to seduce the Clan reader of the Stonefire Dragons so that he will protect her. Bram just get under Evie's skin and makes her temper flair. She always wanted to be a sacrifice for a Dragon Shifter, but unfortunately, she is not compatible.

These two are strong willed characters. I laughed out loud a lot. He is strong and dominant and his Dragon is very opinionated with him.

There is a lot of sex in this series. I am O.K. with that. If you are offended by explicit sexual content... Then this series is not for you.

Great Story and Dragon World

I have bought all 8 stories in the first series and the 3 in the Scots offshoot after reading the Seduced, Healed and Sacrificed to the Dragon books, in that order.

I think I will have jump ahead and read the first Scots series book next because the first twin cousin storyline sounds so interesting. My first 3 books were great. I enjoyed her writing, her characters and the world she has built. Some of the heroines are part of a sacrifice program where women agree to try to have children to repopulate the dragons if they are a genetic match, others are dragons or humans looking for help. The whole sacrifice process is overseen by a sometimes shady government agency. If the women get pregnant they have to stay until the baby is born but can then walk away if they want. The dragons can tell by a kiss if someone is a possible true match, which is true whether the heroine is a dragon or human. If they are a true match, the dragon will have to fight a mating frenzy which doesn't stop until the female is pregnant. Throw in some dragon bad guys and dragon hunters and you have lots of new and interesting situations to enjoy.

This is definitely a good series, I would have rather the story be ...

This is definitely a good series, I would have rather the story be in first person, but at least she gives the point of view of the two main characters. I was a bit confused at first with Sacrificed to the Dragon, which is book one of this series, but I quickly adapted to Jessie's writing style, she has a great imagination. She has to start up quick to be able to get into the meat and potatoes of the story, which I appreciate. This series is sci-fi with hot and steamy romance. I love how passionate the two characters are, they are the complete opposite from each other, yet need each other to be able to breath. I love the fact that she makes her women sassy, smart and no holds barred. This series reminds me very much of another from a completely different author, now if you and Evangeline Anderson (author: Brides of the Kindred), got together to write a book, it would be out of this world!!!! I love, love this series and will continue to follow Miss Jessie Donovan.

a really nicely written book on multivariate time series

This book provides a well-written and rigorous coverage of univariate time series, particularly the time domain models of Box and Jenkins. Its outstanding feature, however, is its treatment of multivariate time series modeling. It is the only book that I know of, that provides a clear and to the point picture of successful multivariate approaches. A little discussion of more recent multivariate advances can be found in Kennedy's 4th edition of his "A Guide to Econometrics".

Good book for learning time series analysis in full depth

This book gives a thorough analysis of the basis of time series analysis from the basic AR and MA-processes up to ARMA, ARIMA-processes. It also gives you a brief introduction to intervention, seasonal, vector and interruption analyses. A drawback however is the inept use of relevant software to produce more accurate parameter-estimates. I used this book as one of my graduate courses and it gives a proper background to help you understand time series analysis.

This is the best book for Time Series. It's well written and full of examples and exercises. Chapter 2 and 3 are the difficult parts. You can read them a few times at first. Then after you finish chapter 4-6, come back to read 2 and 3 again and you will grasp a great deal out of it.

Old, Over-priced and of No Practical Value

I have two of the author's books and, for the most part, they are of little or
no value to the average person ( sufferer ). This book goes into
much detail illustrating various parts of the spine and a few of
the arm and hand primarily for physicians' and therapists'
benefit.

Other than mentioning traction, slings, ice packs, drugs and
injections, there is only one reference to self-help : pendular
exercises of the arm - but no explanation or diagrams.

A recommended book is HEALTHY SHOULDER HANDBOOK
by Dr. Karl Knopf. It contains over 300 photographs to com-
plement 100 exercises for self-treatment of various shoulder
problems.
